Get the fundamentals right first
Business name, address, and phone number (NAP) need to be accurate and consistent with what appears on your website and other directories — inconsistency is one of the most common reasons local rankings underperform. Choose the primary category that most precisely matches your core business, and add secondary categories only where genuinely relevant.
Complete every relevant field
Business hours, service areas, attributes, and a complete business description all contribute to how well Google understands what you offer and to whom. An incomplete profile is a missed opportunity — most of this information takes minutes to add and stays useful indefinitely.
Photos, posts, and Q&A
Profiles with genuine, regularly updated photos tend to perform better and give potential customers more confidence before they even visit the website. Google Posts and the Q&A section are underused by most businesses — keeping them active signals an actively managed, trustworthy profile.
Reviews, honestly
Review count and rating are strong trust and ranking signals, but the only sustainable approach is asking real customers to leave honest reviews and responding professionally to all of them, positive and negative. Incentivized or fake reviews violate Google's policies and put the entire profile at risk.
